Plastic Surgery in China — FAQ

Everything you should know before flying to Shanghai or Guangzhou — and if your question isn't here, just ask May.

Is plastic surgery in China safe?

Yes — when performed at licensed hospitals with specialist surgeons. mei-mei surgery's partner hospitals in Shanghai and Guangzhou all pass license, operating room, and anesthesiology verification before we accept cases, and our interpreter team stays with you 24/7 throughout the trip.

Which cities does mei-mei surgery operate in?

Two cities: Shanghai, led by Celebright Hospital in the Xinhongqiao International Medical Park, and Guangzhou, led by Copley Medical Aesthetics Group (10+ years, eight specialist departments), only about a 3-hour flight from Bangkok — ideal for popular procedures like double eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty, and liposuction. Both use the same verification standards.

Should I choose Shanghai or Guangzhou?

It depends on your procedure and schedule. Guangzhou is closer (~3 hours from Bangkok) and suits standard procedures and tight schedules. Shanghai is our base for major cases, revision surgery, and procedures needing in-hospital recovery, at Celebright Hospital. Send your case via LINE and May will recommend the best fit for free.

How much does plastic surgery in China cost?

Starting prices with all-inclusive packages: double eyelid surgery from ฿85,000 (≈US$2,600), primary rhinoplasty from ฿170,000 (≈US$5,200), revision rhinoplasty from ฿250,000 (≈US$7,600), lip reshaping from ฿59,000 (≈US$1,800). Packages include flights, 3-night hospital stay, transfers, and medication. You pay hospital counter prices with no agency markup.

Do I need to speak Chinese?

No. May, our founder, speaks Chinese and communicates with surgeons directly, and a dedicated interpreter stays with you at every step — consultations, surgery day, and recovery — in both Shanghai and Guangzhou.

How long do I need to stay in China?

Typically 5–10 days for standard procedures and 10–14 days for facial contouring or major cases, in either city. We plan your full schedule before you travel.

How do payments work?

Surgery fees are paid directly to the hospital in China with itemized receipts. Trip service fees are quoted clearly before departure — no hidden costs.

What if I have issues after returning home?
